THE PATRICIAN is The Victoria Flying Club's Monthly Newsletter. Here you'll find out about the latest Club Activities, Events, Stories and Information.

Members, Instructors and Friends also submit their own Original and often Remarkable Stories, Advice and Opinions about General Aviation Flying that are so freshfully written, you can't help but come back every month for another 20 minute read.
December 2009 Issue
The December Patrician gives us an introduction to VFC's newest aircraft (C-FACG), the conclusion to Danny and Ellen's road-trip, as well as a good dose of holiday fun combined with all the other usual and useful features. Happy Holidays!
November 2009 Issue
The Patrician is back online! This month's issue includes some helpful notes on fall and winter flying, the kick-off of a new monthly photo contest, a great road-trip/aviation story, as well as a Remembrance Day tribute. Check out the many opportunities to get involved in The Patrician and contribute to our club newsletter.
Summer 2009 Special Edition
The Pat Summer issue brings many of the usual features - Short Final, Bears Air, First Solos and Achievements along with photos and reports of flyouts, interesting info on the air tankers visiting YYJ, and lots of news of Hawk One. Stories include a visit to the Tiger Boys in Guelph, the ups and downs of a Nieuport replica, a visit to CAH3 and a quick look at the Fort St. John air show. And , of course, there are always loads of great photos.
Sadly, The Last Online Patrician For Now: June 2009
The last Pat is a Pat and a half with loads of interesting stories, archival photos, flyout suggestions,and the usual Short Final, Bears Air, First Solos and Club news. Larry Dibnah says "Thanks for the Memories" in pictures. Sean Steele flies a Stearman in Hawaii, Victoria Tower gets a well-deserved cheer; see the Open House report for VFC and BCAM, the coming changes to the airspace, news from Boeing, and lots of posters of what's happening at airports around BC. It will be a great summer!
May 2009 Issue
Here's the second last Patrician, stuffed full of interesting articles, up-coming events and Club news. Don't miss the Port Alberni Martin Mars Tour and Fly-In on May 31, the Nanaimo Flying Club's Poker Run and Fly-in on June 6/7, and VFC's Open House on May 23rd. There's also Bear's Air, Liam Aloni's Flight Sim, the amazing Seabee, a strange new mystery of the month and a whole lot of events associated with Canada's 100th anniversary of aviation.
April 2009 Issue
Short Final features the new and the old "aerocar" with interesting links; and more about the exciting tour of Hawk One. Bears Air discusses burnout, Larry Dibnah talks about the P-40 and John Swallow of the other VFC contributes an amusing personal story. Don't miss the article on the successful ditching of a Pan Am Stratoliner more than 50 years ago.
March 2009 Issue
The March Pat features more on Canada's "Centennial of Aviation " and the "other " Successful Water Landing of an Airliner in the US. Bears Air discusses the GPS for streets and airways, Larry Dibnah talks about the Nanchang, and John Swallow regales us with another hilarious story from his early days. Lots of 2008 grad pics, letters and photos from Silver Dart Day at the Club.
February 2009 Issue
Lots of Letters to the Editor this month. Barry Meek tells us about airport politics and Larry Dibnah discusses the Langley museum Hampden damaged by the winter storms. More about the Silver Dart and Hawk One and the various celebrations commemorating Canada's Century of Aviation including CAPA's coast to coast relay in vintage aircraft. Come to VFC's Open House on Silver Dart Day for cake and coffee!
January 2009 Issue
Happy New Year to All! The January Pat features Bears Air telling about the Aviation Document Booklet; Larry Dibnah talks about Hawk One and there's a charming and ever-timely Christmas story. A host of odds and ends make informative and amusing reading from a Canso rescue and how to land a 747 to the frustrations of air travel and snow in Victoria. We are also looking for a new editor for the Patrician - see Short Final and page 9.
December 2008 Issue
Happy holidays to all! The last Pat for 2008 speaks of events to come in the centennial year of powered flight in Canada, hints for Christmas presents for good little pilots, a visit from Santa and all the usual stuff - Short Final, Bear's Air, In My Travels, Letters, First Solos and the final instalment of To Brazil with N54CC.
